Role: Producer, Director, and Editor

Project Description

I worked with Food Behind Bars to produce 32 educational videos in just five days, all designed to upskill people working in prison kitchens. We focused on making the content clear, calm and respectful, supporting a national training programme that’s now in use across prisons in England and Wales.

Project in Focus

Food Behind Bars is the UK’s only charity dedicated to improving food in prisons. For this project, I partnered with them to create a series of 32 scripted training videos — helping people working in prison kitchens develop confidence, skills, and pride in their work.

We had just five days to film the full series. The brief called for content that was clear, respectful, and easy to follow — no jargon, no over-explaining. I worked closely with the team to refine the scripts for video, plan the structure, and keep the tone focused and human.

The videos now form part of a wider national programme used across prisons in England and Wales. They include presenter-led segments, real-world kitchen advice, and interviews with chefs, educators and people with lived experience.

This was one of those rare projects where the content really matters — and I’m proud to have helped bring it to life.

Working on this project was a real partnership — and I’m proud of what we created together.

In this short video, Lucy from Food Behind Bars shares her experience of the process, the results, and what it was like working with me.
